LIVINGSTON TAYLOR FAN APPRECIATION

Dear Livingston,

Thank you for sharing your evening workout with us. No accompanying singers, orchestra or sound effects needed yet they were all heard and seen. Got my 10k steps in w/your foot stomping licks. My ailing right knee told me no more pt needed.

We heard your four hearts : piano, guitar whistling and singing. Roaring spiraling crescendos ascended the heights nudging sleepy volcanoes to spew. After your tunes, you look out to us in the most evocative way. What are you thinking?! Perhaps : I even surprised myself how good that sounded or I never played that song like that before but I loved it. Or How about that! Refreshingly hilarious.

You weren’t playing songs…..simply playing.

Your comment “What a lovely night tonight” gave me a breather to REALLY appreciate this precious moment in time with your presence. Your teach all, learn from all. We saw the wonder, awe and innocence of your 20 year old self. Your humor was for us to completely savor , without demanding we give you back anything. You’re not afraid to share raw harrowing truths. Saw you in the 70s. You still make it look so easy. Your energy kept me up most of that night. You’re truly as all Americana as it gets. You fill voids and emptiness stolen by Covid.

Your own music genre, no name for it yet, full of false peaks keeps climbing the heights. You’ve plowed paths for your students saving them lifetimes of dead end one-way pursuits. Your presence is the rare surprise of the red Ferrari thundering past on the roadway.

“When I bought this guitar, it was in tune”. Can you spell original?

Your spirit is relatable to all. You share what it means to be creative. You gave us not a concert but a happening. Way far ahead beyond I want to join you and John Hartford to some pizza. Please let me pay.

Thanks,
Scott Greb

Those who see and hear you, soon learn you are a conduit, the bridge to everything possible. Pity those who don’t know of you yet.

Until next time,
Livingston, Ralph and Julie
